Six GLIAC Women's Basketball Players Selected to the 2014 Daktronics Midwest All-Region Teams and Fogt Named Midwest Region Player of the Year

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Hillsdale College junior forward Megan Fogt has been named the Daktronics, Inc. Midwest Region Player of the Year in a vote by the region’s sports information directors.

Fogt, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, led the Chargers with 20.3 points and 16.1 re­bounds per game in 2013-14.

Joining Fogt on the Daktronics, Inc. All-Midwest Region first team is Lewis University sophomore forward Mariyah Brawner-Henley, University of Indianapolis senior guard Katy McIntosh, Wayne State University junior center Shareta Brown, and Drury Uni­versity senior center Amber Dvorak.

Brawner-Henley, the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year, leads the Flyers with 18.9 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, while McIntosh averaged 17.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per contest before suffering a season-ending injury.

Brown leads the Warriors with 20.2 points and 11.5 rebounds per outing, while Dvorak is averaging 16.4 points and 5.5 re­bounds for the Panthers, who are the No. 1 seed and host for weekend’s NCAA II Midwest Region Tournament in Springfield, Missouri. Fogt, Brawner-Henley, McIntosh, Brown, and Dvorak will be on the national ballot for All-America consideration.

The Daktronics All-Midwest Region second team was comprised of University of Southern Indiana junior forward/center Anna Hackert; Ferris State University senior guard Sarah DeShone; Quincy University senior guard Lucy Cramsey; Ashland University freshman forward Suzy Wollenhaupt and senior guard Alyssa Miller; Northern Michigan University junior guard Alyssa Colla; and Lewis junior forward Jess Reinhart.

Hackert led the Screaming Eagles with 18.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per contest, while DeShone paced the Bulldogs with 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per outing. Cramsey averages 13.6 points and 7.5 rebounds for the Lady Hawks, while Colla leads the Wildcats with 16.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per outing.

Reinhart is contributing 15.2 points and 7.4 rebounds to the Flyers’ front court, while Wollenhaupt and Miller averaged 16.3 and 13.1 points per game, respectively, for the defending national champion Eagles.

The NCAA II Midwest Region Tournament begins Friday when Wayne State (No. 6) and Indianapolis (No. 3) meet in the opening round at noon (CDT). Lewis, the No. 2 seed, plays the No. 7 seed University of Missouri-St. Louis at 2:30 p.m., while the No. 8 seed Truman State University takes on Drury at 6 p.m. The No. 4 seed Northern Michigan and No. 5 seed Quincy conclude the opening round Friday at 8:30 p.m.
