2014 GLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament Bracket Set

BAY CITY, Mich. - The field is set for the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Basketball Tournament.  Quarterfinal action will get underway on Wednesday, Mar. 5 on campus sites.

Wayne State University claimed the 2014 GLIAC Women's Basketball Championship by virtue of posting the best conference regular season record (17-5).  The Warriors earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament and will host Hillsdale College, the No. 8 seed, in a quarterfinal match-up on Wednesday (7:07 p.m.).

There was a three-way tie for second place in the league between Northern Michigan University, Michigan Technological University and Ashland University as all three teams recorded a 16-6 conference mark.  Northern Michigan won the tiebreaker and will be the No. 2 seed.  The Wildcats will host the No. 7 seed,  Northwood University, on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.).

Michigan Tech will be the No. 3 seed and will welcome Saginaw Valley State University, the tournament's No. 6 seed in quarterfinal action (5:30 p.m.).  Ashland will be the No. 4 seed and will host fifth-seeded Malone University on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.).

The highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals will host tournament's semifinals and final on Saturday, Mar. 8 and Sunday, Mar. 9.  The winner of the GLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Tournament.
