INDIANAPOLIS -- The same five schools from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) were once again inside the top 10 of the second NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Midwest Regional Rankings released on Wednesday (Feb. 25). The GLIAC Champion Michigan Tech Huskies dropped back to the No. 2 team in the region with a record of 23-2 and No. 9 in the country with two weeks of action remaining.
Wayne State, nationally ranked at No. 17, remained in the No. 4 position while Ashland, Grand Valley State and Northern Michigan all remained concrete in the 7-8-9 spots for the second straight week. The top eight teams in the final region rankings will earn bids to the NCAA Tournament beginning Friday, March 13.
The Midwest Region includes schools from the GLIAC, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). The GLIAC amassed half of the top ten in the second region rankings with the GLVC earning four teams while Cedarville represents the GMAC at No. 10.
