Lake Erie's Gabor Named USBWA D2 National Player of the Week

USBWA -- Kayla Gabor of Lake Erie College was named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Women’s Division II National Player of the Week for the week ending December 19. 

Gabor, a 5-10 junior guard, was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division Player of the Week after averaging 25.0 points, 7.0 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game in a pair of victories last week for the Storm. 

Gabor began the week with a career-high 30 points in an 81-62 win over Lake Superior State last Thursday, netting 10-of-18 field goals, while adding eight assists and four steals. 

She then capped her week with 20 points, knocking down 3-of-4 three-pointers, 10 rebounds and six assists in an 80-78 win over Northwood on Saturday. 

In the two games, Gabor shot 51 percent from the floor, including 67 percent (8-of-12) from three-point range and made 6-of-7 free throw attempts. 

Gabor leads the GLIAC and ranks 17th in NCAA DII in scoring with 20.0 points per game.
