BAY CITY, Mich. -- The field of eight is set for the 2017 GLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament beginning Tuesday, February 28th with quarterfinal action taking place on campus sites.

The Ashland Eagles (28-0, 20-0 GLIAC) are the No. 1 seed after completing the program's first undefeated regular season and the GLIAC's first 20-0 women's basketball regular season. AU is the only undefeated women's or men's basketball team in NCAA Division II, and one of only seven undefeated women's teams at any level of the NCAA. AU will face-off against No. 8 seeded Walsh (15-12, 11-9 GLIAC) in Tuesday's quarterfinal round with first tip set for 5:30 PM.

Saginaw Valley State (21-6, 17-4 GLIAC) outlasted a stingy Wayne State team on Thursday to secure the No. 2 seed along with the outright GLIAC North Division title. Senior forward Emily Wendling will look to push her Cardinals to a deep postseason run which begins Tuesday at home against No. 7 Northern Michigan (17-11, 12-9 GLIAC).

Grand Valley State (21-6, 16-5 GLIAC) holds the No. 3 position in the tournament and will enter the postseason primed to make another run one year after going all the way to the national semifinals. This year, the Lakers will enter the GLIAC tournament on a hot streak as winners of five consecutive contests. No. 6 Northwood (16-10, 13-8 GLIAC) will head to Allendale for quarterfinal action on Tuesday. The Timberwolves, led by senior forward Jordyn Nurenberg, are also firing on all cylinders as NU has rattled off four straight wins, including an impressive road win over SVSU last Saturday night.

The fourth and final GLIAC quarterfinal matchup will feature No. 4 Michigan Tech (19-7, 15-6 GLIAC) welcoming No. 5 Ohio Dominican (18-9, 13-7 GLIAC) to Houghton for the final time. The Huskies earned a lopsided 72-37 victory over UP rival Northern Michigan in the regular season finale to gain momentum, while ODU picked up a 22-point road win over Lake Erie to secure the five seed.
