Ashland Women Ranked No. 1 In Division II For Sixth Poll In A Row

ASHLAND -- In the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, released on Tuesday (Jan. 24) afternoon, Ashland University's women's basketball team sits at No. 1 for the sixth time in a row.

The 19-0 Eagles are one of four remaining undefeated teams in Division II. In this week's poll, Ashland received 22 of 24 first-place votes, with No. 2 Virginia Union earning the other two.

Ashland has been the top-ranked team in the WBCA Division II poll 19 times, including the first 12 polls in the 2012-13 campaign, and is 34-1 (.971) all-time when playing as the No. 1 team in the country.

Since 1995-96, the Eagles have been ranked in the WBCA poll 62 times, have been in the Top 10 on 46 occasions and been in the Top 5 in 38 polls.

Ashland has been ranked by the WBCA in 27 consecutive polls.

The Eagles are the lone Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference representative in this week's WBCA poll.

Ashland (11-0 GLIAC), which leads both the overall GLIAC and South Division standings, begins a three-games-in-five-days stretch on Thursday (Jan. 26) at 5:30 p.m. at Walsh (9-9, 5-6).
