Three GLIAC Squads Ranked Inside WBCA Top 25 Poll

WBCA Division II Women's Basketball Rankings

WBCA -- The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has placed three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women's basketball programs inside the Top 25.

Ashland is the No.2-ranked team in the country for the second consecutive week after a perfect 8-0 record and received three first-place votes. The No. 2 ranking is AU's highest in the WBCA poll since finishing the 2013 season at No. 1 following its national title. The Eagles are paced by junior forward/center Laina Snyder's 16.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per contest.

Grand Valley State improves to No. 16 up one spot from last week as the Lakers have started the year 6-1 overall and 2-0 in GLIAC play. GVSU is once again relying on perimeter shooting putting up a league-high 24.4 three-point field goals per contest led by Bailey Cairnduff's 12.7 points per game connecting on 41.0 percent of three point attempts.

Saginaw Valley State, 6-1 overall on the year, reenters the polls this week at No. 24 after a dominant GLIAC-opening weekend with blowout wins over Hillsdale (73-48) and Lake Erie (29). The Cardinals are guided by 2015 GLIAC Player of the Year Emily Wendling who is averaging 18.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game with help from Katelyn Carriere's 16.0 points per contest.
