Ashland's Snyder, SVSU's Wendling Grab GLIAC Hoops Weekly Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly women's basketball awards following Week 8 of the 2016-17 campaign. Saginaw Valley St. senior forward Emily Wendling earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division honors for the second time this year, while Ashland junior forward Laina Snyder captured South Division accolades for the third time this season.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Emily Wendling, Saginaw Valley State

Saginaw Valley State senior forward Emily Wendling had a big weekend for the Cardinals, keeping them atop the GLIAC North Division standings after averaging 17.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg in road wins at Findlay and Walsh. Wendling shot 56.5% from the floor and was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line on the weekend. Her 20-point, eight rebound, three assist and one block performance in the win at Findlay marked her seventh 20-plus showing of the season.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Laina Snyder, Ashland

In home wins over Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan, Ashland junior forward Laina Snyder recorded 37 points, 17 rebounds, five assists, nine steals and a block. Her 22 points and 10 rebounds against the Huskies marked her 34th career double-double.
