SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The No. 1 Ashland University Eagles fell to sixth-seeded University of Central Missouri by a score of 66-52 on Friday (March 23) in the 2018 NCAA Women's Basketball National Championship on Heritage Court inside the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls. Ashland had its streak of 73 consecutive victories snapped and finish their season 36-1.

Ashland ran out to an early 16-6 lead midway through the first quarter before Central Missouri fought back to take a four-point lead (35-31) at the half as the Jennies scored 32 of its 35 first half points in the paint while shooting 63 percent. AU trailed 49-44 after the third quarter before making a fourth quarter push bringing the deficit to 51-48 midway through the final period. However, the Jennies would not let up and put the Eagles away. For the contest, UCM fired 50 percent from the field while AU fired just 32 percent.
