Ashland, Grand Valley State to Battle for 2018 #GLIACWBB Tournament Title

2018 GLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

GLIACWBB -- The 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Basketball Tournament Championship contest is set and will tip on Sunday (March 4) at 3 PM on the campus of Ashland University inside Kates Gymnasium. Top-ranked Ashland will face No. 3 seed Grand Valley State for all the marbles and an automatic berth in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Ashland came out firing on all cylinders and led by a score of 39-13 after the first quarter which saw the Eagles fire 15-for-18 from the field, including 7-of-10 from beyond the arc to take a commanding lead. Ashland went on to score a GLIAC Tournament single-game record 111 points in the victory as the Eagles shot 57.4 percent along with 17 triples. Laina Snyder paced AU with 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting in the win. Northwood's Lindsay Orwat posted a game-high 28 points in the defeat.

Grand Valley State sophomore Cassidy Boensch recorded 22 points and 18 rebounds on 10-of-13 shooting as the Lakers dominated the second half to pull away from Ferris State after the Bulldogs led at the halftime break. GVSU held FSU to 26.9 percent shooting in the contest and controlled the paint to the tune of a 30-14 margin. Natalie Koenig also tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists in the victory for the Lakers.
