Field Set for 2018 GLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament

2018 GLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament Central

GLIAC -- The field of eight is set for the 2018 GLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament beginning Wednesday, February 28th with quarterfinal action taking place on campus sites. The conference regular season schedule concludes on Saturday (Feb. 24) when each team will play its 20th league contest, but regardless of those outcomes, the seeding for the tournament has been finalized. 

The Ashland Eagles (27-0, 19-0 GLIAC) are the No. 1 seed as the Eagles captured its third consecutive GLIAC regular season championship. AU has won an NCAA Division II record 64 straight victories. Ashland will face-off against No. 8 seeded Davenport (8-18, 6-13 GLIAC) in Wednesday's quarterfinal round with first tip set for 5:30 PM.

Michigan Tech (22-4, 16-3 GLIAC) earned the No. 2 seed and will play host to the No. 7 seeded Ferris State Bulldogs (14-13, 8-11 GLIAC). The Huskies defeated the Bulldogs twice this season. Grand Valley State (22-5, 15-4 GLIAC) holds the No. 3 position in the tournament and will enter the postseason primed to make another run. No. 6 Northern Michigan (14-13, 10-9 GLIAC) will head to Allendale for quarterfinal action on Wednesday.

The fourth and final GLIAC quarterfinal matchup will feature No. 4 Wayne State (19-6, 14-5 GLIAC) welcoming No. 5 Northwood (16-9, 12-7 GLIAC) to Detroit. The Warriors swept the Timberwolves 2-0 during the season series.
