Ashland's Johnson, Michigan Tech's Heise Selected GLIAC Hoops Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly women's basketball awards following Week 11 of the 2017-18 campaign. Michigan Tech senior guard Brenna Heise earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division honors for the second time this year, while Ashland sophomore guard Jodi Johnson captured South Division accolades for the sixth time this season and fourth consecutive week.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Brenna Heise, Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech senior guard Brenna Heise helped power the Huskies to a pair of key conference wins over 24th ranked Grand Valley State and Purdue Northwest. Heise averaged 19.5 points per game and scored 23 in the win over PNW on Saturday. Heise recorded her first double-double of the season Thursday against Grand Valley State with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Heise converted 55.6% of her shots from the field (15-27)and was a perfect 6 for 6 at the free throw line. She ended up averaging 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for the week. On the season, Heise leads the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game while averaging 4.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Jodi Johnson, Ashland

In another impressive all-around week, Ashland University sophomore guard Jodi Johnson averaged 27.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 5.0 steals per game, while shooting 68.0 percent from the floor, 61.5 percent from 3-point range and a perfect 13-of-13 from the free-throw line. In a 107-85 win at Davenport on Feb. 3, Johnson tied a career high with 31 points. The undefeated and top-ranked Eagles have won an NCAA Division II record 59 consecutive contests.
