GVSU's Hincka, Ashland's Daugherty Collect GLIAC Hoops Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the sixth weekend of the 2017 women's basketball season. Grand Valley State senior center Korynn Hincka earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division honors, while Ashland senior forward Andi Daugherty captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Korynn Hincka, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior center Korynn Hincka turned in a spectacular week of basketball as she posted two double-doubles in wins against Purdue Northwest and Aquinas. Against the Pride, Hincka tallied 13 points while pulling down 12 rebounds before pouring in 19 points - tying a career high - and picking up 10 rebounds. On the weekend, the Posen, Mich. native averaged 16.0 points on 60% shooting and 11.0 rebounds while also picking up five assists and a block as well. 


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Andi Daugherty, Ashland

Ashland University senior forward Andi Daugherty had her best statistical week of the season since coming off an early-season injury as the No. 1-ranked Eagles headed for Christmas Break. In wins at Tiffin and at home vs. Indianapolis, Daugherty averaged 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game, while hitting 78.6 percent from the field, all three of her 3-point attempts and all 11 of her free throws. Against the Dragons, Daugherty became the first Eagle women's basketball player since at least the start the 2010-11 season to make every shot from the field and the line, and have at least five rebounds and five assists.
