FSU's Anderson and GVSU's DeBoer earn Week 5 women's basketball honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced women's basketball player of the week honors for Week Five of the 2018-19 season. Ferris State guard Adrienne Anderson earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division honors, while Grand Valley State guard Jenn DeBoer captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Adrienne Anderson – Ferris State

Sophomore guard Adrienne Anderson played a lead role as the Bulldogs improved to 3-1 in the GLIAC with home wins over Northwood and Saginaw Valley State. Anderson averaged a team-leading 16.5 points while totaling 33 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists in the two-game stretch in addition to shooting 54 percent from the floor. She had 24 points, three steals, three rebounds and an assist in Thursday's impressive 76-63 victory against NU before coming back with nine points, two steals, two assists and two boards in a big 72-44 triumph over SVSU on Saturday when she saw limited action (22 minutes) after the Bulldogs built a commanding lead.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jenn DeBoer – Grand Valley State

Junior guard Jenn DeBoer helped the Lakers to a 2-0 record over the weekend after averaging 23.5 points, 4.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in wins over No. 1 Ashland and Wayne State. Against the top-ranked Eagles, DeBoer tallied a new career-high of 32 points, shooting 12-for-19 (63.2 percent) from the field and 6-for-11 (55 percent) from three-point range. She also tallied four assists, three rebounds, and two steals in her 34 minutes on the court. Against the Warriors, DeBoer racked up 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting to go along with four assists, two steals and a pair of boards.
