AU's Johnson and GVSU's Boensch earn all-America accolades

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Conference Commissioners Association and Women's Basketball Coaches Association have announced their Women's Division II all-America teams for 2019.

Ashland junior guard/forward Jodi Johnson (Wadsworth, Ohio) was named CCA Third-Team All-America and received WBCA All-America Honorable Mention.

Johnson averaged 18.0 points per game to rank second in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in scoring. She also ranked second in field-goal percentage (57.8), free throws (127), free-throw percentage (87.6) and steals (73). She ranked 13th nationally in field-goal percentage and 20th in free-throw percentage.

Grand Valley State junior center Cassidy Boensch (Au Gres, Mich.) received all-America honorable mention from both the CCA and WBCA.

Boensch averaged 19.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game to lead the GLIAC in scoring and rebounding. She also led the league in free throws made (139), blocks (101) and points per 40 minutes (25.2). Boensch ranked ninth nationally in rebounding and blocked shots, and 15th in field-goal percentage (57.2).

Lewis senior Jessica Kelliher from the Midwest Region was named CCA DII Ron Lenz National Player of the Year. Drury's Hailey Diestelkamp, who also hails from the Midwest Region, is the 2019 WBCA NCAA Division II Player of the Year.
