Michigan Tech's Kelliher and Ashland's Johnson earn women's basketball weekly honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced women's basketball player of the week honors for Week Four of the 2018-19 season. Michigan Tech senior Elizabeth Kelliher earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division honors, while Ashland junior Jodi Johnson captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Elizabeth Kelliher -- Michigan Tech

Kelliher led the Huskies to a pair of GLIAC victories at Saginaw Valley State and Northwood. She averaged 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, and nine of her 15 points against Northwood came during a crucial stretch in the fourth quarter. She also recorded four blocked shots and broke the Michigan Tech career record for total blocks as she currently has 201. Kelliher is also the single game and single season school record holder for blocks. This past week, Kelliher converted 60 percent of her field-goal attempts.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jodi Johnson -- Ashland

Johnson opened Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play by averaging 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game, and shooting 71.4 percent from the field, 80 percent from 3-point range and 84.6 percent from the free-throw line for the No. 1-ranked Eagles in home wins over Lake Superior State and Ferris State. Johnson scored a career-high-tying 31 points against the Bulldogs.
