FSU's Anderson, AU's Loomis Earn Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced its first women's basketball player of the week honors for the 2019-20 season. Ferris State junior guard Adrienne Anderson was named GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division Player of the Week, while Ashland junior forward Sara Loomis captured South Division honors.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Adrienne Anderson - Ferris State


Ferris State University junior guard Adrienne Anderson led the Bulldogs to season-opening road split in Ohio this past weekend. She totaled 17 points in Friday's decisive 85-64 season-opening win over Lake Erie while shooting 60% from the floor. Anderson then came back with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists in Saturday's close setback at Walsh. For the weekend, she shot 50% from the floor for the weekend and 57% behind the three-point line. 


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sara Loomis - Ashland


 Senior forward Sara Loomis picked up to start 2019-20 where she left off in 2018-19, averaging 22.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game while shooting 62.1 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from 3-point range in two neutral-site wins against Cedarville on Friday (Nov. 8) and vs. Ohio Dominican on Saturday (Nov. 9). In a 103-83 win over Panthers, Loomis became the 23rd player in program history to score 1,000 career points. She had 19 points and 16 rebounds in 22 minutes against ODU, after beginning the year with 26 points and 12 boards in 26 minutes against the Yellow Jackets. Loomis leads the GLIAC after one week in both points and rebounds per game. This is Loomis’ third career GLIAC South Player of the Week honor, following two last season.
