NMU's Schultz, SVSU's Zarycki Named Women's Basketball  Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the 13th week of the 2019-20 season. For the second consecutive week, Northern Michigan senior forward Jessica Schultz earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Saginaw Valley St. freshman guard Kaitlyn Zarycki captured South Division Player of the Week for the first time in her career.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jessica Schultz - Northern Michigan 

Jessica Schultz helped lead her team to a weekend sweep over Parkside and Purdue Northwest with a combined 59 points, six blocks and 16 rebounds. After posting 23 points in Thursday night's victory, Schultz tallied her first plus-30 point game with a career high 36 points, sinking 17 of 22 shots for a season best percentage when attempting more than five shots.
 

SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kaitlyn Zarycki - Saginaw Valley St.

Freshman guard Kaitlyn Zarycki led the Cardinals to a 2-0 weekend, averaging 22.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 4.0 apg and 3.5 spg. She had 25 points with six rebounds, four assists and five steals in Thursday's 82-68 victory over GLIAC North leader Ferris State. She then added 20 points with eight boards, four assists and a pair of steals in Saturday's 82-60 victory at Lake Superior State.
