FSU's Anderson, AU's Johnson Earn Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced weekly awards following the second week of the 2019-20 season. Ferris State junior guard Adrienne Anderson was named GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division Player of the Week, while Ashland senior guard Jodi Johnson captured South Division honors.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Adrienne Anderson - Ferris State

Ferris State University junior guard Adrienne Anderson continued her impressive play to start the year as she totaled a team-high 15 points with five boards, three steals and an assist while playing only 16 minutes in a dominating 85-59 win over Hillsdale in regional action on Thursday night. Anderson got the Bulldogs off to a fast start as FSU scored the first 19 points in the game. She shot 78% from the floor (7-9) and made her only free throw attempt as Ferris State improved to 2-1 overall with the home-opening triumph. 


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jodi Johnson - Ashland

Thanks to a 24-point, six-assist and razor-sharp shooting effort at home vs. Findlay on Thursday (Nov. 14) night, Ashland University senior guard Jodi Johnson has earned her first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week award of the season, and the 14th of her Eagle career. In the 108-59 win over the Oilers at Kates Gymnasium, Johnson posted 24 points, six assists and two steals, while making 9-of-10 shots from the field and 4-of-5 from 3-point range, in just 25 minutes of action. The first three games of the 2019-20 season has seen Johnson average 15.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game, while hitting 45.7 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from 3-point range and 70 percent from the free-throw line. Johnson has now scored 1,720 career points – good for fourth place on Ashland’s all-time scoring list.
