Wayne State's Rob Favaro and Ashland's Holly James Chosen as GLIAC Men's & Women's Golf "Athletes of the Week"

BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State University sophomore Rob Favaro (LaSalle, Ont./St. Thomas of Villanova) and Ashland University senior Holly James (Strongsville, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) have been chosen as the Men's & Women's Golf "Athletes of the Week", respectively.

GLIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week:

Rob Favaro
Wayne State University
(Sophomore, LaSalle, Ont./St. Thomas of Villanova)

Wayne State University sophomore Rob Favaro claimed medalist honors for the second time in three weeks at the Midwest Regional Event this past Sunday and Monday. Favaro (73-69—142) posted the lowest score of Monday’s second round and defeated Tiffin University’s Luke Schlicher (72-70) in a playoff. Wayne State has finished in first place in each of the last three events, including the Tiffin Invitational two weeks ago, at which Favaro was also the medalist.

GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week:

Holly James
Ashland University
(Senior, Strongsville, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit)

Ashland University senior Holly James finished second at the Gilda’s Club Laker Invitational hosted by Grand Valley State Univeristy this past weekend. She shot 152, one stroke behind California University’s (Pa.) Kim Thomas. This was the best finish of James’ career. Jamaes led the Eagles to the tournament championship, AU’s first of the season. The Eagles shot 634 to nip California, which was second at 635.
