NASHPORT, Ohio -- The Findlay Oilers extended their team lead to 13 strokes after a 304 (+16) in round two of the 2017 GLIAC Women's Golf Championships at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. UF sophomore Makenzie Torres holds a 5-stroke lead over the field at +1 overall for the championships following an even-par 72 on Saturday, the best round of the day. Torres is seven strokes better than the field in Par 4 scoring this week.

The Oilers have four players inside the Top 12, including Shelby Warner sitting in a tie for second at +6 total after she carded a 2-over par 74. Meredith Wipper is positioned 11th at +16 total, while Samantha Kellstrom sits one behind at +17. Findlay is leading the tournament in Par 5 scoring by eight strokes at 2-under par for the championship. UF also leads the field in birdies with 25, while the neareset competitor NMU has only 14.

Second-year program Northern Michigan sits second at +49 overall following a 26-over par second round total of 314. The Wildcats distanced themselves from Grand Valley State and Ashland who sit tied-for-third by 20 strokes. NMU was led by Caro Els who is tied for second at +6 overall after a second round of 4-over par 76. Karissa Guthrie is tied for fourth and +11 for the tournament after posting 75 on day two, while her Northern Michigan teammate Avery Rochester is placed sixth at +12 giving the Wildcats three players inside the top six.

For the day, the Par 3 ninth played the hardest at +1.32 strokes over par, yielding just two birdies while forcing 12 double bogeys and 10 others. No. 10 was the easiest hole on Saturday at +0.08 strokes over par with 12 birdies and an eagle allowed on the Par 5.

The final round begins on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. with the awards ceremony proceeding the action.
