Grand Valley State Advances to National Championship With Second Place Finish at Regionals

CANTON, Ohio -- The Grand Valley State women's golf team closed out the NCAA Super Regional with a strong 305 effort to finish in second place and punch a ticket to the NCAA Division II Championships in Findlay, Ohio from May 17th-20th. GVSU finished at 912 (+48) at the end of the three-day event behind the University of Indianapolis, which took the event with a score of 875(+11). Missouri-St.Louis (918), Findlay (922) and Lewis/Illinois-Springfield (959) rounded out the top five at the event. 

Maria Sol Pose led the Lakers with a fifth place finish at 220 (+4) after carding a third-round score of 75 and finishing the tournament with nine birdies. Alex Taylor finished 16th at the event with a final score of 231 (+15), followed by Samantha Moss, who ended in a three-way tie for 17th at 232 (+16) after carding a final round of 74. Mackenzie Blomberg finished 21st overall after shooting a third-straight round of 78 to finish at 234 (+18).

Julie Guckian carded an 85 and finished tied for 30th with a 239 (+23) to round out the Laker lineup. Taylor finished with six birdies for the tournament, while Guckian led the team with 37 pars. Moss parred 36 holes, Blomberg had 33, Sol Pose finished with 32 and Taylor hit par 30 times.
