Ferris State's Hammett, GVSU's Reed Tabbed GLIAC Golfers of the Week Following Medalist Accolades

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the 2018 Saginaw Valley State University Men's & Women's Spring Invitational in Georgetown, Kentucky. Ferris State junior Andrew Hammett claimed medalist honors on the men's side, while Grand Valley State freshman Olivia Reed captured the top spot in women's competition.


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK | Andrew Hammett - Ferris State

Ferris State produced the individual medalist as sophomore Andrew Hammett won the event with a 138 score on rounds of 70 and 68 over the two days, respectively. Hammett's total was one stroke better than GVSU's Alex Scott who finished runner-up.


WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK | Olivia Reed - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State freshman Olivia Reed captured her first collegiate victory after shooting a two-day total of 143 (1-under par). After shooting an opening round 74, Reed came back with a day-two 69 to win the event by two strokes. Her 69 ties the lowest round in program history and makes her the first Laker freshman to attain the feat. The Carleton, Mich. natives performance also helped GVSU capture the team title, as they shot a new 36-hole program record score of 578 to win by 57 strokes.
