Lakers place 14th in NCAA Women's Golf Championship

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - The Grand Valley State women's golf team's season closed Thursday with a 14th place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. The Lakers carded a final round 338 (+46) on the last day of stroke-play, finishing the tournament with a 94-over 970. This was the Lakers' 12th straight appearance at the national tournament and the 17th in the last 18 years. Florida Tech earned the #1 seed after finishing first in stroke-play while Cal State San Marcos, Indianapolis, Barry, Southwest Oklahoma State, Limestone, Dallas Baptist, and Findlay will all advance to match-play as well. 
 
Junior Katie Chipman earned a tie for 12th place in the 95-player field after she carded rounds of 76, 74, and 79 to finish with a 10-over 229. Senior Mackenzie Blomberg capped her Laker career with a tie for 47th place at the national tournament after she finished with a 242 (+23). Junior Morgan Janke-Wolff and freshman Erin Johnson were separated by just one stroke as they finished tied for 72nd and 74th, respectively. Janke-Wolff finished 32-over (251) while Johnson finished with a 33-over 252. Rounding out the Lakers was junior Maria Sol Pose who finished with a 36-over 255. 

Northern Michigan's Caro Els tied for 36th with a 75-83-81--239, and Northwood's Sydni Harding tied for 55th with a 79-85-81--245.
