McKendree Sweeps GLIAC Lacrosse Weekly Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the first GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2017 season. The Bearcats from McKendree captured both lacrosse weekly honors. McKendree midfielder Tori Lelo earned GLIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week accolades, while teammate Stacey Wright earned GLIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Tori Lelo, McKendree

Against reigning national champs and No. 1 ranked Florida Southern Lelo was huge for the Bearcats with  three goals, one assist, four ground balls, one caused turnover and a game high eight draw controls. Her draw controls were instrumental in keeping the game within reach for the Bearcats. Against Rockhurst University she had seven goals, one assist, and set a school single-game record with eleven draw controls. Overall this weekend her stats were: nine goals, two assists, ninteen draw controls, four ground balls, and one caused turnover. 


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Stacey Wright, McKendree

Against #1 Florida Southern, McKendree relied heavily on Wright in transition. Wright picked up five ground balls, caused two turnovers, and came away with two draw controls. Against Rockhurst University, Wright had one ground ball and one caused turnover. Again, the Bearcarts relied on her to transition from their defense to offense. Her stats for this weekend were six ground balls, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers.
