GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the Week 6 GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2019 season. Indianapolis freshman Jessica Soenen was named Offensive Player of the Week, while McKendree senior Hannah Sugarman was named Defensive Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Jessica Soenen - Indianapolis
Freshman Jessica Soenen (New Westminster, British Columbia) racked up 15 goals and one assist in three games this past week, including 10 scores in a 22-1 victory over Maryville and a 22-7 win vs. McKendree. The rookie netted five goals in each contest, while adding an assist on Sunday against McKendree. Soenen added five ground balls and one caused turnover, while notching her first free position goal of the season.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Hannah Sugarman - McKendree
McKendree senior midfielder Hannah Sugarman (Holden, Mass.) totaled six goals, three assists, 12 ground balls, and 13 caused turnovers in three games last week. She scored three goals during a 13-9 loss to Lindenwood, compiled three goals and two assists during a 25-2 victory at Ashland and had one assist in a 22-7 loss at Indianapolis.
