BAY CITY, Mich. - Tiffin junior Garrett Gray was selected 2015-16 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Wrestler of the Year after asserting his dominance as one of the top-ranked grapplers in NCAA Division II.
Ashland freshman Jerry Fenner III claimed GLIAC Freshman of the Year accolades while Findlay's Shawn Nelson and Ashland's Joshua Hutchens received GLIAC Coach of the Year honors.
Tiffin's Garrett Gray has enjoyed another dominant season at 285 pounds, posting a 36-2 record while earning the top ranked spot in NCAA Division II and Super Region II in his weight class. He is currently third in the nation in total falls and has helped lead the 15th-ranked Dragons to a top five spot in Super Region II. He currently holds an 88-13 career record over three seasons.
Ashland's Jerry Fenner III was half of the Eagles' freshman 133-pound tag-team, along with Chandler Minnard, and is 11-6 with two pins and 24 takedowns going into the Super Region II tournament. Fenner is an All-GLIAC Second Team selection.
Lake Erie set the pace with a league-high eight all-conference honorees, while Ashland amassed six recipients. Findlay and Tiffin both recorded three selections each.
