Grand Valley State and Michigan Tech Earn Berths Into the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS - Grand Valley State University and Michigan Technological University earned berths into the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament, which begins this weekend.  GVSU is the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region, while Michigan Tech received the No. 6 seed.

As the top seed in its portion of the bracket, GVSU automatically advances to the regional semifinals. The Lakers will await the winner of Friday's (Nov. 15) match between Truman State and Rockhurst, the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds in the region, respectively.

The regional semifinal match will take place on Sunday (Nov. 17) at GVSU. Times for these games have yet to be announced.

The Huskies will travel to Quincy, Ill. to play No. 3 seeded UW-Parkside on Friday (Nov. 15).

This is the 11th consecutive season GVSU has qualified for the NCAA Tournament. The Lakers have advanced to four straight Final Fours and have won two national titles since 2009.  GVSU is coming off its seventh-straight GLIAC Tournament title and are now 19-0-1 on the season.

Tech finished the regular season 12-4-1 overall and second in the GLIAC at 9-2-1. The Huskies defeated Saginaw Valley State in the GLIAC quarterfinal and Ashland in the semifinal before bowing out to top-ranked Grand Valley State in the conference championship game on Sunday (Nov. 10). Tech rode a five-game winning streak into the championship game.
