NMU's Halonen & Frontuto Sweep GLIAC Women's Soccer Weekly Laurels

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after Week 4 of the 2017 women's soccer season. Northern Michigan freshman forward Jenna Halonen earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Northern Michigan freshman goalkeeper Brianna Frontuto claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Jenna Halonen, Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan freshman forward Jenna Halonen recorded four goals in a 5-0 win over Purdue-Northwest on Friday where she amassed 11 total shot and seven shots on target. Halonen leads the GLIAC in points (16), is tied for first in goals (7) and already has more goals and points in a season than any NMU player since the 2014 season. She finished the week with eight points, 15 total shots and nine shot on goal.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Briana Frontuto, Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan freshman goalkeeper Brianna Frontuto posted an weekend of clean sheets going 1-0-1 between the posts. Frontuto combined with junior Emma Vermette for a shutout with 66-minutes of action in a 5-0 win over Purdue-Northwest on the road Saturday morning. She then posted her second career solo shutout and second shutout of season in scoreless draw with Davenport on Sunday. Frontuto posted seven saves for the Wildcats on the week.
