Grand Valley State & Ferris State to Clash in NCAA Women's Soccer Midwest Regional Final

2018 NCAA WOMEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT BRACKET

GLIAC -- No. 1 Grand Valley State and No. 13 Ferris State will square-off Friday (Nov. 16) at 2 p.m. for the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament Midwest Regional Championship. The Sweet 16 matchup will feature the Lakers looking to continue their undefeated season and capture their tenth straight regional title, while the Bulldogs are competing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

Both programs posted a pair of clean sheets in early-round regional play contested on their campuses this past weekend. Top-seeded GVSU earned a 7-0 victory over Rockhurst on Friday (Nov. 9) to open regional action before dispatching of Walsh in the second round on Sunday (Nov. 11) by a 5-0 final tally. FSU, the No. 3 seed in the Midwest Region, earned a 2-0 victory over McKendree on Thursday (Nov. 8) to earn their first ever NCAA Tournament victory and followed it up with a 1-0 shutout of the No. 2 seed Ohio Valley on Saturday (Nov. 10).

This will be a rematch of the GLIAC Tournament Championship match in which GVSU prevailed by a 4-0 margin. The Lakers also were victorious in the regular-season tilt in double overtime, 2-1. The Bulldogs, under head coach Andy McCaslin, currently are a school all-time best 16-3-3 overall to date this year.

The winner of the Midwest Regional title will match up with the winner of the Central Region Championship between Central Oklahoma and Central Missouri.
