PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- No. 3 Bridgeport (20-4-1) scored on a header by Nara DaCosta at 77:49 to win the 2018 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship, 1-0, Saturday. The Purple Knights handed No. 1 Grand Valley State (25-1-1) its only loss of the season.

Bridgeport goaltender Jennifer Wendelius stopped all six GVSU shots on goal.

The Purple Knights, who avenged an early season 6-0 loss to the Lakers, advanced to the finals by beating a favored UC San Diego team in Thursday's semifinals.

GVSU, winner of five DII titles (2009-10, 2013-15), was also the runner-up in 2016.
