GVSU's Becker, SVSU's Davis Earn GLIAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week Selection

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the fourth week of competition to begin the 2018 women's soccer season. Grand Valley State freshman forward Madeline Becker earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Saginaw Valley freshman defender Carlee Davis claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Madeline Becker - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State freshman forward Madeline Becker scored five goals in two victories, including a hat trick in the 10-0 win over Purdue Northwest on Friday. Becker has now scored in four straight matches, including three consecutive with multiple goals. She finished the week with 14 shots, putting six on target.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Carlee Davis - Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley freshman defender Carlee Davis helped lead the Cardinals to a 1-0-1 road record over the weekend with a win over Northwood on Friday and a 1-1 draw over No. 14 Ferris State on Sunday. She helped keep a clean sheet for the fifth time this season in the 1-0 over NU, allowing only six shots on goal.
