Grand Valley State's Cook, Saginaw Valley's Watts Collect GLIAC Women's Soccer Weekly Awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the ninth and final week of the 2018 women's soccer regular season. Grand Valley State sophomore forward Ava Cook earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Saginaw Valley State sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Watts claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ava Cook - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State sophomore forward Ava Cook scored a pair of goals and added an assist in 5-0 win over Davenport that clinched an undefeated regular season for the top-ranked Lakers. Cook finishes the regular season as GLIAC leader in goals (13) and points (30) as GVSU gets ready to host Purdue Northwest in Tuesday's (Oct. 30) GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinal.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alyssa Watts - Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley State sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Watts produced seven saves in this weekends 0-0 tie on the road against Ashland, producing her eighth shutout for the Cardinals this season in her 1558:42 minutes of play this year. Watts has earned a total of 59 saves this year.
