GVSU Earns No. 1 Ranking Atop United Soccer Coaches Women's Soccer Poll

KANSAS CITY, MO. — Grand Valley State is once again the No. 1 team in the country as three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) teams remain ranked and improved their positions inside the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) national women's soccer Top 25 poll. Grand Valley State moved up one spot to No. 1 in the country following a 3-0 week featuring two shutouts, while Ferris State improved two positions to No. 12 with Saginaw Valley jumping up three spots to No. 21. 

GVSU (12-0-1, 4-0 GLIAC) posted a 3-0 road victory over Cedarville on Wednesday before taking down Michigan Tech (3-1) and Northern Michigan in Allendale on the weekend. Ferris State (10-1-2, 4-0-2 GLIAC) earned a pair of dominant road victories over Purdue Northwest (4-0) and Parkside (4-1) to remain unbeaten in league play. Saginaw Valley (9-1-2, 3-0-1 GLIAC) took down Tiffin (4-0) on the road on Tuesday before dispatching of Ashland (2-1) at home in double overtime on Sunday.

This week features a Top 25 matchup when No. 21 Saginaw Valley travels to No. 1 Grand Valley State on Friday (Oct. 12) before Ashland travels to Allendale to battle the top-ranked Lakers in Sunday action.
