NMU's Pietila and FSU's Mosallaei named GLIAC women's soccer players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following week 3 of the 2022 women's soccer season. Northern Michigan redshirt sophomore midfielder Brooke Pietila earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Ferris State sophomore goalkeeper Darya Mosallaei secured GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brooke Pietila, Northern Michigan

Brooke Pietila dominated the weekend for Northern Michigan, managing seven points on a pair of goals and three assists in a 7-1 win at Parkside. To follow it up, she added another goal at Purdue Northwest in a 4-0 win to make it three goals and three assists in the two-game weekend. Pietila has helped guide the Wildcats to a 5-0-1 start to the season and a 2-0 conference mark. She is now first in the GLIAC in assists (4), tied for first in points (12), and tied for second in goals (4).

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Darya Mosallaei, Ferris State

Ferris State University sophomore goalkeeper Darya Mosallaei had a strong weekend for the Bulldogs as FSU opened conference play with a pair of ties on the scoreboard. The second-year standout finished with three saves while going the distance in net on Friday as FSU opened conference play with a 0-0 deadlock against third-ranked rival and defending national champion Grand Valley State in the first league action. Mosallaei then came back to notch two saves in 90 minutes of work on Sunday in a 1-1 decision against Davenport at home. For the weekend, she totaled five saves with a 0.50 goals against average and .833 save percentage for the Bulldogs, earning a pair of ties in 180 minutes of action in net.
