GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 4 of the 2022 women's soccer season. Northern Michigan redshirt sophomore midfielder Brooke Pietila earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades for the second-straight week, while Grand Valley State sophomore midfielder Mackenzie Jones was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brooke Pietila, Northern Michigan

Redshirt sophomore midfielder Brooke Pietila continued to pace the GLIAC in assists and points this weekend in a pair of big NMU wins. She was involved in every goal in a 3-1 win over Ferris State, scoring once and adding a pair of assists. Pietila also scored in the Wildcats 4-1 win over Saginaw Valley State. She is now tied for the GLIAC lead in goals with six, and leads the conference in assists with six and points with 18.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Mackenzie Jones, Grand Valley State

Mackenzie Jones (Saint Peters, Mo.) has been named GLIAC defensive player of the week after helping lead the Lakers to a pair of GLIAC wins against Parkside and Purdue Northwest. The junior was dominant defensively in the two games, disrupting passes and coming up with key takeaways in the midfield to prevent scoring chances. The Laker defense did not allow Purdue Northwest to get off a single shot attempt in the 8-0 win. Jones also netted two goals and dished out an assist in the win.
