Bay City, Mich.--Wayne State University's Elaina Hogle (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's swimming and diving athlete of the year and University of Indianapolis' Maura Donahue (Milan, Mich.) received freshman of the year honors and Sean Peters of Wayne State was tabbed as coach of the year.

Elaina Hogle - Wayne State University

Breast/Fly/IM
Senior Elaina Hogle was voted GLIAC Women’s
Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Year for the third straight
season. Hogle won three individual events this week (200 IM, 400
IM, 200 butterfly) and was part of two championship relays. Her
200-yard butterfly victory came Saturday (2:02.52) as she broke her
own pool record set in the prelims. It marked her second straight
title in the event and the third of her career. Hogle earned her
third consecutive conference title in the 400-yard IM (4:24.75),
breaking her own meet record set last year (4:26.52) and her own
pool record she achieved in Friday’s preliminary round
(4:32.26). In the 200-yard IM, Hogle claimed her third career
championship (2:03.98), lowering her own pool record set Thursday
morning (2:07.65) and her own school record set in 2009 (2:04.46).
She also eclipsed the meet record of 2:04.49, established by
GVSU’s Jenna Thayer in 2009. Hogle improved her NCAA "A" cuts
in the 200-yard fly and 400-yard IM.

Year
Maura Donahue - University of Indianapolis
Sophomore - Milan, Mich.
Freestyle
Maura Donahue placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (51.82),
second in the 200-yard (1:53.48) and 500-yard freestyle (5:01.85),
second in the 800-yard freestyle relay, anchored the second place
400-yard medley relay, and collected a fourth in the 400-yard
freestyle relay. She collected four NCAA A-cut performances (100
free, 500 free, 800 free relay, 400 medley relay) and a B-cut (200
free) in her first conference championship meet.
Coach of
the Year
Sean Peters - Wayne State University
13th Season
Head coach Sean Peters, in his 13th season at Wayne State,
was presented with his fourth career GLIAC Women’s Coach of
the Year award, joining Gary Kinkead of Indianapolis (2002-05) as
the only four-time winners. Peters has led the Warrior women to
four GLIAC titles in the last five years, including three
consecutive before finishing second in 2009.
