Michigan Tech's Suthijindawong Earns GLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year

BAY CITY, Mich. - Michigan Tech junior Kwang Suthijindawong has been selected Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Tennis "Player of the Year" by league coaches as she continued a flawless career singles mark. Northwood's Alisa Reshetnikova was named "Freshman of the Year", while Wayne State's Sheila Snyder was voted "Coach of the Year".

Kwang Suthijindawong, the Huskies' No. 1 player, completed her third perfect season in GLIAC singles by defeating Matina Matic 6-3, 7-6 (0). Suthijindawong is now 36-0 in her GLIAC career. Suthijindawong is a three-time all-conference first team honoree.

Alisa Reshetnikova stepped right into the Northwood lineup and became one of the top players in the GLIAC. She finished the regular season 14-4 overall (7-1 singles, 7-3 doubles), all of which were played at the top of the lineup. When she was healthy, Northwood was undefeated on the season.

Sheila Snyder, in her 26th season at the helm of the Wayne State University women's tennis program, led the Warriors to their first GLIAC title since 1982 by guiding her squad to a 12-0 regular-season conference mark.  Snyder's teams have qualified for the NCAA tournament eight of the past 10 years with the 2014 squad being the first in program history to reach the Sweet Sixteen.  WSU has reached the GLIAC Tournament championship match each of the last two seasons.  Snyder has recorded 280 match victories in her illustrious women's tennis coaching career in Detroit.
