BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its women's tennis weekly awards following the fourth week of the regular season. Grand Valley State junior Alexa Sweeney claimed GLIAC Athlete of the Week honors after a 4-0 weekend.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Alexa Sweeney, Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State junior Alexa Sweeney went 2-0 in GLIAC singles matches over the weekend defeating Hillsdale’s Corinne Prost 6-1, 6-3 on Saturday and Wayne State’s Liv Peisachovitz 6-2, 7-5 on Sunday. Sweeney paired with Madison Ballard to go 2-0 in doubles over the weekend as well. The GVSU duo defeated Halle Hyman and Katie Bell of Hillsdale 9-7 on Saturday, before defeating Peisachovitz and Dasha Kuznetsova of Wayne State 8-5 on Sunday.
