BAY CITY, Mich. - Tiffin senior Caroline Nelhage has been selected 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Year by league coaches after going unbeaten in singles action. Northwood's Veronika Radlinger was named Freshman of the Year, while Tiffin's Phil Conley was voted Coach of the Year.
Tiffin senior Caroline Nelhage has enjoyed a stellar senior season, leading Tiffin University to a 12-1 record, 10-1 in the GLIAC. She has amassed a 17-1 record this season, including an unbeaten 13-0 mark at first singles (11-0 in GLIAC play). She also teamed with Aimee Kaye to total a 14-3 record, 10-1 in GLIAC play. She is a four-time First Team All GLIAC selection.
Northwood's Veronika Radlinger stepped right into the lineup and became one of the top players in the GLIAC in her freshman season. In GLIAC play, she went 21-1 overall, posting a 10-1 record from the No. 2 singles position and an 11-0 record from the No. 2 doubles slot. In her 11 singles matches, Radlinger dropped a total of just three sets. In doubles with her partner Yuliia Russu, Radlinger's closest match in her 11 victories was by the score of 8-5.
