Northwood, Tiffin & Grand Valley State Punch Tickets to 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Tournament

NCAA -- Three women's tennis teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) have punched tickets into the 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Tournament. Northwood, Tiffin and Grand Valley State all earned the right to continue their seasons and an opportunity at making a run to the national title.

On the women's side, Northwood (20-2) is seeded second in the Midwest and will host the opening two rounds of the tournament. NU will open the event with a match against No. 7 seed Lewis (16-7). The winner of that match will play either No. 3 seed Drury (20-3) or No. 6 seed Missouri-St. Louis (14-2) in the second round. Those contests will be held at the Gerstacker Courts on the campus of Northwood University Monday-Tuesday (May 1-2). In the case of inclement weather, the matches will take place indoors at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

No. 4-seeded Tiffin will take on No. 5-seeded Grand Valley State for the third time this season. The Dragons (19-3) defeated the Lakers (21-8) 6-3 during the regular season while also posting a slim 5-4 win over them in the GLIAC Tournament.

Tiffin will face GVSU on May 1 at Greenwood, Indiana, as top-seeded Indianapolis will be hosting the regional. Indianapolis will play the winner of the contest on May 2.

The winner of each regional will advance to the National Championships in Altamonte Springs, Florida May 9-13.
