BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its women's tennis weekly awards following the sixth week of the regular season. Grand Valley State senior Alexa Sweeney claimed GLIAC Athlete of the Week honors.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Alexa Sweeney, Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State senior Alexa Sweeney posted a 1-1 record in singles play and a 3-0 mark in doubles competition, helping the Lakers defeat Tiffin, Ashland and Wayne State this past weekend to improve to 8-0 on the year and tied for first with Northwood heading into the final week of action. Playing from No. 2 singles against Tiffin and Wayne State, Swenney went 1-1, winning a key singles match at Wayne State. In doubles, she played from No. 1 pairing and posted a 3-0 record.
