BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its women's tennis weekly awards following the seventh week of the regular season. Grand Valley State senior Abby Perkins claimed GLIAC Athlete of the Week honors on the final week prior to the GLIAC Tournament which begins Friday, Oct. 27 at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Abby Perkins, Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State senior Abby Perkins helped the Lakers earn two key victories this weekend with wins against Saginaw Valley State and Northwood, which helped the Lakers to a 10-0 record this season and a GLIAC regular season title. Perkins posted a 4-0 overall record this weekend, as she went 2-0 from No. 4 singles, and 2-0 in doubles action from the No. 3 pairing. In addition, Perkins posted a perfect 10-0 record in singles play against conference opponents and yielded an 8-1 doubles reocrd versus conference foes this season.
