Grand Valley State's Griva Captures GLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its first women's tennis weekly awards for the 2018 campaign. Grand Valley State freshman Vera Griva claimed GLIAC Player of the Week honors after an impressive weekend at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Vera Griva - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State freshman Vera Griva had an outstanding performance this weekend during the ITA Midwest Regional Championships and went 6-2 overall during the three-day tournament. The freshman from Athens, Greece posted a 4-1 singles record as the No. 9 seed and made it all the way to the semifinals in the top bracket of the tournament. In doubles, Griva paired up with teammate Marily Canellopoulos and went 2-1 as the No. 6 seed. In addition, Griva was the only GLIAC player that advanced to the semifinals in singles play during the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.
