WSU's Da-Silva Claims GLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its third women's tennis weekly awards for the 2019 season. Wayne State junior Khadija Da-Silva claimed GLIAC Player of the Week honors after an impressive weekend at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament. 

 


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Khadija Da-Silva - Wayne State 

Wayne State junior Khadija Da-Silva (Burlington, Ont.) made it to the A Singles semifinals at the 2019 ITA Midwest Regional Tournament over the weekend.  Da-Silva notched a victory over Illinois-Springfield's Meagan Flight (7-5, 6-2) in the first round, followed by a win against the 13th-seeded Mercedes Fernandez from Walsh (6-4, 7-6(5)).  In the round of 16, Da-Silva topped Bellarmine's Ava Ratcliff (6-4, 6-3).  She advanced to the semifinals after tallying a quarterfinals victory over UIndy's Maria Solnyshkina (7-6(5), 6-2).    Da-Silva competed against 15th-seeded Alina Kislitskaya from UIndy in the semifinals on Sunday.  Overall, she went 4-1 in A Singles matches at the tournament.
