FSU's Sutton and HC's Leutheuser Earn Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Volleyball Honors

TOWSON, Md. – Ferris State University junior Anne Sutton (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview) and Hillsdale College senior Clara Leutheuser (Hillsdale, Mich./Hillsdale Academy) have been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Volleyball Team.

Sutton had her best season to date as she ranked second on the squad with 335 kills and attack percentage at .357 in 31 matches.  She was also second overall with 75 blocks on the year. Sutton is also a three-time GLIAC All-Academic Team honoree and has twice earned D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award laurels.  She also earned All-GLIAC First Team honors this season for her performance. Sutton helped lead FSU to a 27-4 overall record as the Bulldogs won the GLIAC North Division crown this season and emerged as league co-champions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Leutheuser led the Hillsdale College volleyball team to the 2011 Final Four, earning a large number of accolades along the way. She became the first Charger athlete to ever win the GLIAC Commissioner’s Award twice, and was named to the GLIAC Academic Excellence Team for a second time. On the court, she was named AVCA Second-Team All-American, and finished the regular season leading the conference in hitting percentage and total blocks. She earned First-Team All-GLIAC and First-Team All-Midwest Region honors, and had a spot on the NCAA Division II Elite Eight All-Tournament Team.
