2016 Volleyball Academic All-America™ Teams

TOWSON, Md. -- The 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America™ Women's Volleyball Teams have been announced, and two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) volleyball student-athletes were recognized for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Ashland senior Alli Cudworth is the first player in Ashland history to earn All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team honors four years in a row. She is a first team All-Region selection from both the D2CCA and the AVCA. Entering the NCAA Division II regional tournament, the Kent, Ohio, native had posted 470 kills, 57 service aces, 387 digs and 64 total blocks. She is only the third player in AU program history to record 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Academically, Cudworth is an integrated social studies education major with a 3.89 G.P.A.

Michigan Tech senior Rachel Pohlod ranked second in the GLIAC in total assists in league matches (719) and first in assists per set (10.40). She's had 50-assists in five matches this season, including a career high 68 in an epic five-set marathon in the conference quarterfinals at Saginaw Valley. She has also hit double figures in digs in 21 matches, including in all but two of her final 21 matches. Pohlod is one of three players in Tech history to record over 2,000 assists and 1,000 digs in her career. She currently ranks fourth at Tech in career assists (2,906) and sixth in career digs (1,167). She was a two-time GLIAC Academic All-Excellence selection and a GLIAC First Team selection this past season. 

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2016-17 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.
