2017 GLIAC VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
GLIAC -- No. 1 Ferris State and No. 3 Michigan Tech will battle once again for a trophy on Sunday at 3 PM. This time it will be for the 2017 GLIAC Volleyball Tournament Championship and will take place on the campus of Ferris State University. The two teams met one week ago with the 2017 GLIAC Volleyball Championship on the line and FSU earned a 3-1 victory and the title.

No. 1 Ferris State def. No. 5 Wayne State, 3-1 (27-29, 25-18, 25-9, 25-22) | BOX SCORE
Wayne State got out to a slow start in the first set before making a big comeback before eventually taking the frame by a 29-27 decision. Ferris State battled back with a .314 hitting performance in set two to even it up (25-18) before limiting the Warriors to -.194 in the third set (25-9) prior to putting WSU away in the fourth by a 25-22 count. The Bulldogs were paced by Maria Kronner who hit .467 on the night with 17 kills and five blocks, while Ayanna Buckley hit .276 with 13 kills and six blocks. GLIAC Player of the Year Allyson Cappel posted a double-double with 10 kills and 17 digs in the win. Wayne State's Hailey Richardson posted 16 kills and 10 digs along with Julia Malewicz who recorded 10 kills and 16 digs.
No. 3 Michigan Tech def. No. 2 Northern Michigan, 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-20, 25-21) | BOX SCORE
Michigan Tech took the opening frame by a 25-22 margin before Northern Michigan knotted the rivals up in the second with a 25-16 victory. Tech held NMU to sub-100 hitting performances in the third (25-20) and fourth (25-21) sets to advance to the title match. MacAulay Petersen led the Huskies with 16 kills on 50 attacks while Mariah Sherman posted 10 kills while GLIAC Freshman & Setter of the Year Laura DeMarchi recorded 45 assists, seven digs and four blocks. The Wildcats were led by Madison Whitehead (15 kills) and Leticia Antunes (14 kills, 16 digs) in the loss.
