Ferris State Clinches Fourth Straight GLIAC Volleyball Tournament Championship

2017 GLIAC VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

GLIAC -- No. 1 Ferris State swept No. 3 Michigan to capture the 2017 GLIAC Volleyball Tournament Championship on the campus of Ferris State University. The Bulldogs earn the conference's automatic into next weekend's NCAA Tournament with the field being announced Monday (Nov. 20) at 7:30 PM. FSU has won the last four GLIAC Volleyball Tournament crowns as Ferris State libero Lauren Reminga was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

Ferris State picked up its 23rd win of the season with a 3-0 sweep over No. 3 seeded Michigan Tech to capture the league tournament title for the fourth straight season. The Bulldogs earned a 25-20 win in the first set before hitting a match-high .295 in the second frame to record a 25-23 victory before clinching the title with a 27-25 decision in the third. Ferris State was led by Courtney Brewer's 13 kills, while Ayanna Buckley added 11 kills and Allyson Cappel posted 18 digs and 10 kills. Maeve Grimes orchestrated the FSU offense with 40 assists, seven digs and three blocks as the chams hit .224 on the afternoon. Michigan Tech was paced by 14 kills from Mariah Sherman with Elle Heinonen adding 20 digs.
