Ferris State's Buckley, Wayne State's Richardson Earn GLIAC Volleyball Weekly Accolades

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the fourth weekend of the 2017 volleyball season. Ferris State University senior middle hitter Ayanna Buckley earned GLIAC Volleyball North Division honors, while Wayne State junior outside hitter Hailey Richardson captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Ayanna Buckley, Ferris State

Ferris State University senior middle hitter Ayanna Buckley led the seventh-ranked Bulldogs to three consecutive league home sweeps this past week as FSU improved to 11-2 overall and stayed unbeaten at 5-0 in the GLIAC. Buckley averaged 3.78 kills and 1.11 blocks per set while hitting an impressive .373 on the week in wins over Northwood, Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan inside the Ewigleben Sports Arena. Buckley totaled 16 kills, seven digs and four blocks in FSU's win over Northwood Tuesday before coming back with 10 kills, five digs and a block in Friday's triumph over Michigan Tech. She wrapped up the weekend with eight kills, five blocks and four digs versus NMU. For the week, she totaled 34 kills, 16 digs and 10 blocks.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Hailey Richardson, Wayne State

Wayne State junior outside hitter Hailey Richardson powered Wayne State to three wins this past week totaling 44 kills and 4.00 per set, while hitting .246. In the comeback victory at GVSU, she tallied 24 kills (4.80/set), 15 digs and hit .286 to help the Warriors collect their first victory over the Lakers since 2011, snapping a seven-match losing streak. She notched her second double-double of the week in the sweep at Davenport with 13 kills and 15 digs.
